Hover Junkers: Combat and Survive with virtual reality
The world has become an unforgiving desert, and the few remaining survivors must risk their lives for anything that gives them an advantage. Men, women and robots are measured in open combat aboard their personal ship, made with every piece of junk they found along the way. Welcome, to Hover Junkers, one of the most promising game coming soon to the world of virtual reality.
One detail that every player must solve its own way is the relationship between the degree of virtual reality you want to play, and the space available in your home. Undoubtedly, sit and move around our head eliminates much of the potential of virtual reality. In the past, we have seen several platforms like treadmills, that managed to solve almost any space constraint … but we still need more helmets, games and more. The vast majority of devices points to 2016 as the year of release, however, the software is taking its time. An exception to the rule is Hover Junkers, whose demos are increasingly fabulous.
The video you just saw is based on the HTC lives but has already confirmed compatibility with other headsets (such as Oculus Rift ), provided they meet the minimum requirements. Essentially, each player must use different pieces of junk to customize and adjust their ship’s defenses. Enemy fire becomes quite intense in some games, and a steel plate placed in the right place will make a huge difference. The defenses can be moved around at will, but they are not eternal.
The official site of Hover Junkers presents a very interesting story about the game, to the point where it would be nice to see it becomes a single player FPS. Steam announces its entry into it as “Early Access”, but still there is no way to download a copy. What we can do is monitor the blog, full of details and videos on game development, or register a mail account to receive the latest news. Will they follow other projects the same line Hover Junkers? I hope so.
